Grant Buday Shortlisted for City of Victoria Book Prize
TouchWood Editions is pleased to announce that Orphans of Empire by Grant Buday has been shortlisted for the 2021 City of Victoria Butler Book Prize. The announcement was made on September 10 and the winner will be announced at a free online event, hosted by CBC’s Gregor Craigie, on Sunday, October 3 at 7:00 PM PT as part of the Victoria Festival of Authors.
Orphans of Empire is Buday’s seventh novel and “to be nominated alongside so many fine writers is gratifying. My thanks to the people at the City of Victoria book prizes.” The City of Victoria honours members of the literary community by awarding a $5,000 prize to an author for the best book published in the preceding year in the categories of fiction, literary non-fiction or poetry. The other nominated authors are Lorna Crozier for Through the Garden: A Love Story (with Cats), Briony Penn with Cecil Paul for Following the Good River: The Life and Times of Wa’xaid, Kyeren Regehr for Cult Life, and Madeline Sonik for Fontainebleau.
